Jawaan Foreman, Heroin Distribution, New Jersey 2021

TRENTON, N.J. – Two men have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a drug trafficking organization that sold illegal drugs in Mercer County, New Jersey, and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Jawaan Foreman, 37, of Trenton, was sentenced today to 5 years in prison. Foreman previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Michael A. Shipp to an information charging him with one count of possession with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base.

Foreman’s sentence is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation. OCDETF identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the United States by using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach that leverages the strengths of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies against criminal networks.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court, Foreman and others engaged in a heroin trafficking conspiracy in the areas of Stuyvesant, Hoffman, and Highland avenues in Trenton, and around Barbary Road in Philadelphia.

Foreman’s sentence is the ninth and 10th defendants to be sentenced in conjunction with this investigation. Judge Shipp imposed both sentences in Trenton federal court.

Foreman was charged with possession with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base (count one) in an information filed on February 25, 2021.

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Eric A. Boden and Michelle S. Gasparian of the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Criminal Division in Trenton.

A total of 10 defendants have been sentenced in conjunction with this investigation. The charges against Foreman carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $1,000,000.
