JACKSONVILLE, FL – Thomas Edgar Hall, 36, of Jacksonville, is staring down a potential life sentence after admitting to peddling deadly fentanyl while armed, according to federal prosecutors. Hall pleaded guilty to two counts of distribution of fentanyl and two counts of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking – charges stemming from a months-long investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the guilty plea, revealing that Hall repeatedly sold fentanyl and crack cocaine to an undercover officer between May and August of 2024. What makes this case particularly chilling? Hall wasn’t just dealing poison; he was armed – or had immediate access to a firearm – during every single transaction. This isn’t just drug dealing; it’s a brazen disregard for public safety.
The operation didn’t stop at street-level sales. In September 2024, investigators raided Hall’s residence, uncovering a disturbing arsenal. Six firearms, a cache of ammunition, and a full drug lab were seized. Evidence included beakers, mirrors, razors, and blenders all contaminated with drug residue – the tools of a callous trade. Officers also recovered over 60 grams of fentanyl and additional crack cocaine, confirming the scope of Hall’s operation.
Federal sentencing guidelines are harsh, and rightfully so. Hall now faces a minimum of 10 years behind bars, but the potential extends all the way to life in federal prison. No sentencing date has been set yet, but the wheels of justice are turning.
