Jean Roussel Eloi, Internet Solicitation of Minor, Florida 2015

A Palm Bay man was found guilty of using the internet to solicit an 11-year-old for sex, authorities announced.

According to testimony, Jean Roussel Eloi, 30, started an online chat session with the minor on the night of July 20, 2014. The next day, the girl’s mother contacted law enforcement after the girl reported the chats.

An undercover detective then engaged in a series of chats with Eloi, who explicitly detailed the sexual acts he wanted to perform with the ‘girl.’

Eloi eventually asked the ‘girl’ to meet him, and when he arrived at the prearranged location, deputies arrested him.

The case was investigated by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Palm Bay Police Department.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Bruce S. Ambrose.

The guilty verdict comes as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Eloi faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years, up to life, in federal prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 17, 2015.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
