Jeffrey Lavone Shaw, Cocaine Conspiracy, AL 2017

Fairhope’s Jeffrey Lavone Shaw has been caught in the crosshairs of justice, as he faces a federal drug conspiracy charge that could land him behind bars for up to two decades.

The charges, returned by a federal grand jury in February 2017, include Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Cocaine and Use of a Cellphone in furtherance of the drug activity. The allegations stem from an intensive investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Street Task Force in the Daphne/Fairhope area.

This isn’t Shaw’s first brush with law enforcement, as six other defendants have already been indicted and entered guilty pleas on similar charges. FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Lasky praised the collaborative effort between federal, state, and local partners that led to Shaw’s arrest.

Acting U.S. Attorney Steve Butler emphasized the commitment of all levels of law enforcement to ensuring community safety, highlighting the tireless work of the Safe Street Task Force. However, as in any criminal case, Shaw is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecution of this case will be handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Alabama, where justice will once again be served in a city that has seen too much of its citizens fall victim to drug-related crimes.

Fairhope’s streets may seem safer today, but the fight against drug trafficking continues, and Shaw’s arrest is a stark reminder that those who traffic illegal substances will face the full weight of federal law.
