ALBUQUERQUE – A stark reminder of the consequences for predators: Tyler Chinana, a 35-year-old Jemez Pueblo member, has been locked away for 63 months after being found guilty of sexually abusing two underage minors. The sentence, handed down by the federal court, comes with no parole in the federal system.
Chinana’s predatory behavior was exposed when he engaged in unlawful sexual contact with a victim under 12 back in 2012. In another harrowing incident just last year, Chinana targeted yet another minor, also aged under 12. The court documents paint a chilling picture of repeated abuse by the defendant.
The gravity of his crimes led to Chinana’s guilty plea on two counts of abusive sexual contact. Upon completing his sentence, he will be placed under ten years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender for life, ensuring he remains accountable to society.
