A Minnesota man has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute in Nebraska. Jeno Michael Paulucci, 42, of Duluth, Minnesota, was sentenced on August 15, 2023, by Senior United States District Court Judge John M. Gerrard to 78 months’ imprisonment.
The crime took place on August 3, 2022, when law enforcement conducted a checkpoint on Interstate 80 in Dawson County, Nebraska. Paulucci was the driver and his co-defendant, Patrick Lewis McKinney, was the passenger. Paulucci exited the highway and parked on the wrong side of the road, sparking a traffic stop.
Law enforcement initiated a traffic stop and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Paulucci did not have a driver’s license, registration, or insurance. During the search of the vehicle, 63 grams of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl pills, kief, and ecstasy pills were located.
Additionally, law enforcement found various dangerous weapons, including two machetes, multiple bladed weapons, a baton taser, and a firearm. Paulucci’s 2018 Cadillac Escalade, which was used during the commission of the offense, will be forfeited to the United States.
Paulucci pleaded guilty to his offense on May 18, 2023. His co-defendant, Patrick Lewis McKinney, pleaded guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Distribute on April 17, 2023, and was sentenced to 78 months’ imprisonment on July 21, 2023.
This case was investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol. Paulucci will serve a three-year term of supervised release after completing his prison sentence. There is no parole in the federal system.
