A Phoenix man has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old. The indictment alleges that between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2019, Jeremy Blueeyes, 25, a member of the Navajo Nation, unlawfully and knowingly engaged in and attempted to engage in sexual acts with a child who had not yet attained the age of 12 years.
Blueeyes will remain in custody pending trial, which has not been scheduled. If convicted, Blueeyes faces a minimum of 30 years and up to life in prison. The case was investigated by the Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office with assistance from the Navajo Police Department and Navajo Nation Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Marshall is prosecuting the case.
According to the indictment, the alleged abuse took place between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2019. The exact dates and locations of the alleged abuse are not specified in the indictment. However, it is alleged that Blueeyes engaged in and attempted to engage in sexual acts with a child who had not yet attained the age of 12 years.
An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. While the indictment alleges that Blueeyes committed the crimes, the case has not yet gone to trial.
Blueeyes is currently in custody pending trial. The trial date has not been scheduled, and it is unclear when the case will go to trial. If convicted, Blueeyes faces a minimum of 30 years and up to life in prison.
The investigation into Blueeyes’ alleged crimes was led by the Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office with assistance from the Navajo Police Department and Navajo Nation Department of Criminal Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Marshall is prosecuting the case.
