A Phoenix man has been sentenced to 108 months in prison for sexually abusing a minor in New Mexico.
The case involved Jeremy Blueeyes, a 26-year-old enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, who engaged in sexual contact with a minor who had not yet attained the age of 12 in 2019.
According to court records, Blueeyes subsequently pled guilty to abusive sexual contact of a minor.
Following his guilty plea, Blueeyes was sentenced to 108 months in prison, with no parole available in the federal system. Upon his release from prison, he will be subject to 10 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender.
The investigation into this case was conducted by the Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, with assistance from the Navajo Police Department and Navajo Nation Department of Criminal Investigations.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Marshall as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS.
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit Justice.gov/PSC.
