Jeromee Todd Donaway, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, West Virginia 2020

Jeromee Todd Donaway, 31, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, is headed to federal prison for 103 months after being sentenced on a federal firearms charge, marking another violent chapter in a criminal history steeped in drugs and weapons violations.

Donaway pled guilty in March 2020 to being a felon in possession of a firearm, admitting he carried guns while on parole from a 2017 Wood County conviction for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin, who also ordered three years of supervised release following Donaway’s prison term.

On February 25, 2019, Parkersburg police responded to Broadway Avenue after reports that Donaway had been seen waving a loaded Cobra .380 caliber pistol while screaming at an individual. Officers detained him and found the weapon in his backpack. At the time, Donaway was already on bond stemming from a December 22, 2018 traffic stop in Vienna, where police seized two additional pistols and a backpack containing suspected methamphetamine and heroin.

Donaway’s rap sheet includes three prior convictions for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, as well as charges for carrying a dangerous weapon and attempting to disarm a police officer. His repeated run-ins with law enforcement highlight a pattern of escalating violence and disregard for court-imposed restrictions.

The investigation was led by the Parkersburg Police Department and the Vienna Police Department, with prosecution handled by Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Hanks. The case was prosecuted under Project Guardian, the Department of Justice’s national initiative to combat gun violence by strengthening coordination between federal, state, and local agencies and prioritizing prosecution of the most dangerous offenders.

Project Guardian focuses on enforcing federal firearms laws, enhancing intelligence sharing through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), and directing federal resources toward individuals who pose the greatest threat to public safety. Court records for the case, designated 2:19-cr-00268, are available via PACER. More information on Project Guardian can be found at https://www.justice.gov/projectguardian.
