Ja’Shon Spencer, a 22-year-old resident of Imperial, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to three years in prison for possessing a machinegun during a drug transaction with undercover law enforcement in Pittsburgh. The incident occurred on June 16, 2025, when Spencer was found to be in possession of a Glock semiautomatic pistol equipped with a machinegun conversion device, also known as a ‘Glock switch.’ This device converts a semiautomatic firearm into a fully automatic firearm, making it a machinegun under federal law.
Spencer’s sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak on June 17, 2026. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kelly M. Locher and was the result of an investigation by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
