Durante King-Mclean, a 27-year-old Canadian, was busted in a traffic stop in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, on September 2, 2023, with 65 handguns hidden in the trunk of his rental car. The guns, individually concealed in socks, were destined for Canada. King-Mclean had been in the US illegally since April 2023, when he allegedly helped steal millions in gold bars from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. He pleaded guilty to conspiring to traffic firearms on May 14, 2025.
The investigation revealed that King-Mclean had been in contact with co-conspirators from April 2023 until his arrest, and had purchased the guns in the US before heading back to Canada. Two of the guns were fully automatic, 11 were stolen, and one had an obliterated serial number. King-Mclean’s arrest was the result of a joint effort by the Pennsylvania State Police and federal authorities.
King-Mclean’s sentence of 160 months in prison reflects the seriousness of the crime. Firearms trafficking puts guns in the hands of criminals, fueling violence and terrorizing communities. The case highlights the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies in combating cross-border crime.
King-Mclean’s troubles began when he allegedly participated in the heist of millions of dollars in gold bars and foreign currency from the Air Canada cargo terminal in Toronto. He then fled to the US, where he remained until his arrest. The sentence brings closure to the case, but the impact of firearms trafficking on communities will be felt for a long time.
