A woman’s fatal fentanyl deal has landed her in federal prison for 14 years. Jessica Lee Erickson, 44, of Daytona Beach, Florida, was sentenced on January 2, 2025 to 168 months in federal prison for her role in distributing fentanyl that led to the death of a person in Dubuque, Iowa.
Prosecutors say Erickson started providing fentanyl to the victim in May 2024. On June 15, 2024, Erickson distributed a lethal dose of fentanyl to the victim at a home in Dubuque, Iowa, resulting in the victim’s death.
Erickson’s guilty plea to one count of distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death was entered on January 2, 2025. She is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until she can be transported to a federal prison.
Assistant United States Attorney Nicole L. Nagin prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Dubuque Drug Task Force.
The case file number is 24-CR-01033.
Erickson’s sentence includes a five-year term of supervised release after her prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
