Defendant Sentenced for Heroin Distribution in West Virginia
A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 36 months in federal prison for his role in distributing heroin in West Virginia. Jewel D. Woods, 19, of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to one count of ‘Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin’ in November 2016.
According to court documents, Woods admitted to selling heroin in Harrison County, West Virginia in January 2016. His guilty plea marked the end of a lengthy investigation led by the Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Traci M. Cook prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the sentencing hearing.
