Tax Preparer’s Scheme Unraveled
MIAMI, FLORIDA – Jimmy Desir, a 46-year-old tax preparer from Miramar, has been charged with orchestrating a massive tax fraud scheme that bilked the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) out of more than $2 million.
According to federal authorities, Desir, who operated A1 Plus Financial Services, Inc. in North Miami Beach, allegedly included false entries on his customers’ tax returns to inflate their refunds. These false claims included bogus fuel tax credits, education credits, and Schedules C with fabricated business losses.
The scheme, which spanned several years, allowed Desir to collect higher tax preparation fees from his victims, while simultaneously lining his own pockets with ill-gotten gains.
Desir’s arrest comes after a lengthy investigation by the IRS Criminal Investigation (IRS CI) Miami Field Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Aimee Jimenez.
An indictment is merely an allegation, and Desir is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The case is currently pending in federal court in Miami, with a case number of 25-cr-20070. Related court documents and information can be found on the website of the District Court for the Southern District of Florida at www.flsd.uscourts.gov or at http://pacer.flsd.uscourts.gov.
