Joe Moreland Edger, Conspiracy to Possess a Firearm in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking, Missouri 2014

ST. LOUIS, MO – In a harsh blow to the city’s crime landscape, Joe Moreland Edger, 43, was today sentenced to 30 years behind bars for his sinister role in two drug-related homicides. The trial took place before the Honorable Catherine D. Perry.

Edger’s sentence stems from the cold-blooded murders of Erin Davis on December 16, 2014, and Juanita Davis on January 15, 2016. Despite the victims not being related, Edger’s links to the drug underworld proved fatal for both.

Aficionados of the dark trade, Edger was an associate of Dwane Taylor, a notorious drug-dealer. Following Taylor’s botched robbery in late 2014, which resulted in the loss of drugs and money, Taylor sought revenge. Edger was enlisted to assist in this heinous mission. Alongside this, Edger helped Taylor pinpoint the victims and facilitated transportation for the murders.

Edger also supplied Taylor with a nine-millimeter firearm used to execute both victims. In return, he received a .22 caliber firearm from Taylor. The court found Edger guilty of conspiracy to possess a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking and being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

At the time of these murders, Taylor was already on parole for a previous murder conviction. His parole has been revoked by the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole due to his latest offenses.

The Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives conducted the investigation that led to Edger’s downfall.
