Manhattan Man Arrested for Child Pornography, Enticement of a Minor
A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light in Manhattan, New York. Joel Davis, a 22-year-old resident of Manhattan, has been arrested and charged with various crimes related to child pornography and enticement of a minor.
According to the allegations, Davis started an organization devoted to ending sexual violence, but simultaneously engaged in the duplicitous behavior of sharing explicit images of infants engaged in sexual activity. He also allegedly solicited an undercover officer to send sexually explicit videos of his nine-year-old daughter and even set up a sexual encounter between himself and a two-year-old.
U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman stated, “Joel Davis’s conduct is as unfathomable as it is sickening. Law enforcement will continue to monitor the darkest corners of the internet to bring predators to justice.” FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge William F. Sweeney Jr. added, “Crimes against children like those alleged against Davis are taken very seriously by the FBI.”
The charges against Davis include one count of enticement of a minor under the age of 18 to engage in sexual activity, one count of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of possession of child pornography, and one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography.
The maximum potential sentences in this case are prescribed by Congress: 10 years to life in prison for enticement of a minor, 15 years to 30 years in prison for attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, 5 years to 20 years in prison for possession of child pornography, and 20 years in prison for receipt and distribution of child pornography.
DAVIS, 22, of Manhattan, New York, is set to be presented in Manhattan federal court before the Honorable Kevin N. Fox on the same day of his arrest, June 2018.
