John A. Psehoyas, Importing Anabolic Steroids, Massachusetts 2017

Grimy Times Exclusive:

A Boston federal court has sentenced a United States Postal Service (USPS) worker for importing a controlled substance. John A. Psehoyas, 54, of Methuen, Massachusetts, was handed six months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release and 200 hours of community service to be completed during supervised release.

Psehoyas, a customer service supervisor at the Lynnfield, Mass. Post Office, pleaded guilty on Jan. 4, 2017, to importation of a controlled substance. The guilty plea marked the end of a two-year investigation that uncovered Psehoyas’ activities.

From August 2014 to March 2016, Psehoyas purchased anabolic steroids, a controlled substance, from online sources and had them shipped to him from China, Poland, Turkey and Romania. The parcels were addressed to multiple addressees at various locations to avoid suspicion.

Acting United States Attorney William D. Weinreb announced the sentencing, stating that Psehoyas’ actions undermined the trust placed in USPS employees. Eileen Neff, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General, Boston Field Office, also made a statement, highlighting the seriousness of Psehoyas’ offense.

Eugenia M. Carris of Weinreb’s Public Corruption Unit prosecuted the case. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the U.S. Postal Service, Office of Inspector General and other law enforcement agencies.

The sentencing serves as a reminder of the consequences for those who abuse their positions of power and engage in illicit activities. Grimy Times will continue to monitor this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
