Luzerne County Man Pleads Guilty To Fentanyl Trafficking

SCRANTON, Pennsylvania – John Williams, age 42, of Kingston, Luzerne County, pleaded guilty on October 19, 2022, before U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion, to the charge of conspiracy to distribute more than 40 grams of fentanyl.

According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Williams admitted to conspiring with his co-defendant, Lee Crawford, age 59, of Wilkes-Barre, and with others, to distribute more than 40 grams of fentanyl in the Luzerne County area between July 2020 and February 2021.

The charges against the defendants resulted from an investigation conducted by the Kingston Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, and the Luzerne County Drug Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Robert J. O’Hara is prosecuting the case.

Williams and his co-defendant, Lee Crawford, were indicted by a grand jury in March 2021. The charges against Crawford are still pending.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

Under federal law, Williams faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, up to a maximum sentence of forty years in prison, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
