ATLANTA, GA – In a massive sting operation, federal authorities have taken down a $3 million cocaine ring, led by 35-year-old Ansel Johnson.
According to court documents, Johnson, a resident of Atlanta, allegedly orchestrated the smuggling operation, moving massive quantities of cocaine from major cities across the country to the Southeast.
Johnson, along with five co-defendants – Antonio Hampton, 29, Chace Jones, 32, Emmanuel Wulah, 38, Jayden Williams, 25, and another suspect whose name has not been released – were charged with various counts of conspiracy, distribution, and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Prosecutors allege that the group used encrypted communication channels to coordinate shipments, often using private aircraft to transport the illicit substance.
During the investigation, authorities seized over 20 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $3 million, as well as several vehicles and assets linked to the operation.
Johnson’s alleged co-conspirators were also taken into custody, with each facing separate charges and potential prison sentences.
According to court records, the case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Steven Paul Berne and Matthew S. Carrico, with defense counsel provided by Paul Mooney, Benjamin Black Alper, and Judy A. Fleming.
The U.S. Federal Court in Atlanta, Georgia has set a preliminary hearing for March 25 to determine the admissibility of evidence and potential bail for the defendants.
