SMASH AND GRAB SCHEME: COLUMBUS WOMAN SENTENCED TO 30 MONTHS
Jolisha McDonald, 25, of Columbus, Ohio, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for her role in a massive smash and grab scheme that targeted stores in eight states, including West Virginia and Ohio.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, McDonald and her co-conspirators stole smart phones, tablets, head phones, game stations, and computers from Walmart, Target, and Meijer stores, resulting in an estimated loss of over $500,000.
McDonald pleaded guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Transport Stolen Goods in Interstate Commerce in November 2016. She was sentenced today by Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. at the federal courthouse in Wheeling, West Virginia.
The investigation into the smash and grab scheme was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Columbus Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert H. McWilliams, Jr. prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
