ASHEVILLE, NC – In a devastating blow to the drug trafficking scene in western North Carolina, Jonathan Maurice Logan, 35, of Asheville, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for his role in trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl.
According to court documents, law enforcement learned of Logan’s illicit activities in February 2022, and an investigation was launched to uncover the extent of his operations. On March 31, 2022, authorities obtained a search warrant for Logan’s hotel room and vehicle, where they found nearly half a kilogram of methamphetamine and over a kilogram of fentanyl.
The search also yielded a digital scale, a blender, a brick press machine, a vacuum sealer, and more than $10,000 in cash, further evidence of Logan’s involvement in the trafficking of these deadly substances.
Logan’s arrest and subsequent sentencing mark a significant victory for law enforcement in their ongoing efforts to combat the opioid epidemic and keep communities safe from the devastating effects of drug trafficking.
Logan will be transferred to the custody of the federal Bureau of Prisons upon designation of a federal facility.
The case was investigated by the DEA and the Asheville Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Hess of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Asheville prosecuting the case.
The charges against Logan included possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, a serious offense that carries significant penalties.
Logan’s sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in drug trafficking and the importance of continued efforts to disrupt and dismantle these operations.
