Federal Court Sentencing
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – In a recent federal court sentencing, 38-year-old Jose C. Pena, of the Dominican Republic, was found guilty of distributing cocaine in the Northern District of Indiana.
According to court documents, Pena was involved in a large-scale cocaine distribution operation that spanned across multiple states, including Indiana, Texas, and Ohio. The operation involved shipping cocaine from Texas to Elkhart, Indiana, and then transporting it to the Columbus, Ohio area. Pena was responsible for arranging these shipments.
On March 17, 2023, Pena was sentenced to 97 months imprisonment by the Honorable Judge Jon E. DeGuilio of the South Bend District Court. Pena will also serve 3 years of supervised release following his imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Criminal Investigative Division. Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank Schaffer handled the case.
