A Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking conspiracy in Pennsylvania.
Jose Gomez, 46, of Garland, Texas, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Scranton on February 17, 2012, to conspiring to distribute cocaine in Monroe and Northampton County in 2011.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Gomez admitted to participating in a drug-trafficking conspiracy that obtained cocaine in Texas and distributed it in Monroe and Northampton County.
Gomez, a native of the Dominican Republic, faces deportation proceedings in addition to his prison sentence.
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, and the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigations.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. O’Hara.
Gomez was sentenced to 36 months in prison for his role in the conspiracy.
The sentencing took place on February 17, 2012, in U.S. District Court in Scranton.
