Daniel Saucedo, Cocaine Trafficking, Pennsylvania 2023

A federal court in Pittsburgh has dealt a significant blow to cocaine traffickers with a 46-month prison sentence handed down to Daniel Saucedo, a 34-year-old former resident of Rosharon, Texas.

The sentence was imposed by Senior United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti after Saucedo was convicted of violating federal narcotics laws.

According to information presented to the court, Saucedo attempted to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, a Schedule II controlled substance, on or about July 28, 2023.

What makes Saucedo’s crime particularly egregious is that he traveled to Pittsburgh specifically to receive a kilogram of cocaine through the U.S. mail and then distribute it to a local drug dealer, a move that Judge Conti deemed ‘particularly serious’.

The judge emphasized the pervasive harms that drug trafficking and drug abuse have within communities, highlighting the need for swift and severe punishment for those involved in such activities.

Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin C. Dobkin prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, while United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan commended the United States Postal Inspection Service for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Saucedo.

The sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in cocaine trafficking and serves as a warning to those who would seek to profit from the destruction of lives and communities.
