Jose Luis Estrada, Methamphetamine Distribution, Iowa 2022

Sioux City, Iowa – In a shocking turn of events, Jose Luis Estrada, 37, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in a federal court in Sioux City, Iowa, on May 9, 2022. The conviction comes after a thorough investigation by the Tri-State Drug Task Force, a multi-agency task force consisting of law enforcement personnel from various agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Sioux City Police Department, and the Iowa National Guard.

According to court documents, Estrada conspired to distribute large quantities of methamphetamine in the tri-state area, putting numerous lives at risk. The severity of the crime warrants a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of up to life imprisonment, a $10,000,000 fine, and 5 years up to life of supervised release following any imprisonment.

Estrada remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ron Timmons, who will push for the maximum sentence.
