Cushing Man Pleads Guilty to Illegally Possessing Firearms
A 27-year-old man from Cushing, Maine, has admitted to breaking federal law by possessing firearms following a domestic violence conviction.
Joseph Dinapoli, 27, of Cushing, Maine, entered a guilty plea in U.S. District Court to possessing firearms after being convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
In June 2008, Dinapoli was convicted of Domestic Violence Assault, a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence under federal law. As a result, he was prohibited from possessing firearms. However, in June 2014, he was found in possession of two handguns.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Dinapoli faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
