Joseph Hinksmon, Child Pornography Receipt, New Jersey 2019

Joseph Hinksmon, a 42-year-old resident of Cranford, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for his involvement in the receipt of child pornography.

According to the indictment, Hinksmon accessed the internet between July 10, 2019, and July 24, 2019, to download and receive videos and images of child sexual abuse to his personal hard drive. This resulted in over 600 images of child sexual abuse being stored on his computer devices, including images of prepubescent children.

Hinksmon pleaded guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi in Newark federal court. In addition to the prison term, Judge Cecchi sentenced Hinksmon to 10 years of supervised release and ordered him to pay restitution of $75,000.

The investigation into Hinksmon’s activities was led by special agents of the FBI, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge George M. Crouch Jr. in Newark. The U.S. Attorney’s Office Violent Crimes Unit in Newark represented the government in this case.

Hinksmon’s crimes are a stark reminder of the severity of the issue of child pornography and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat it. The receipt and distribution of child pornography can cause irreparable harm to victims and can have long-lasting consequences for those involved.
