A South Bend man has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for his role in a child pornography case. Joshua Campbell, 32, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography, announced United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
According to documents in the case, in April 2019, Campbell was on parole for child molesting when he downloaded images and videos of child pornography. Some of the images or videos were of minors under the age of 12. Campbell’s sentence reflects consideration of his prior child molesting conviction.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of the Indiana State Police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John M. Maciejczyk.
Campbell was sentenced to 120 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release. This sentence is a direct result of his guilty plea and his prior conviction for child molesting.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.
Campbell’s actions are a stark reminder of the dangers of child exploitation and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their crimes. The community can be assured that the authorities will continue to work tirelessly to protect its children and bring perpetrators to justice.
This case serves as a warning to those who would seek to exploit children, that they will be caught and held accountable for their actions. The sentence handed down to Campbell is a testament to the commitment of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI to protecting children from harm.
