Defendant Sentenced to 20-Year Supervised Release After Prison Term
Joshua M. Meyer, 44, of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 250 months in prison for distribution of child pornography, a federal crime. The sentence was handed down by Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., on August 22, 2025.
According to United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods, Meyer was found to have distributed child pornography on the social media application KIK between June 27, 2023, and July 17, 2023. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) made a report to the FBI after receiving a CyberTip from Medialab/KIK, which led to the investigation and subsequent arrest of Meyer.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Meyer had been using a TracFone to circumvent restrictions placed on his known cell phone as part of his supervised release term. Meyer is a registered sex offender and had previously been convicted of receipt and distribution of child pornography in 2014.
As part of his sentence, Meyer will serve 20 years of supervised release after his prison term. He was also ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution to each of the six identified victims.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006. The case was investigated by the Omaha FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.
