Rome, GA – Juan Antonio Perez, a Mexican national, has pleaded guilty to harboring illegal aliens for financial gain in the United States.
According to the US Attorney’s Office, Perez encouraged and induced aliens to reside in the US where they worked for him illegally, earning below-market rates without benefits or insurance.
The Georgia resident, who owns Aztec Framing, employed illegal aliens at his offices in Cartersville, Rossville, Georgia, and Hixon, Tennessee.
Perez used the workers for his commercial advantage and private financial gain, collecting over 30 sports cars and heavily customized trucks for his personal collection.
He also built a 7,500-square-foot house, purchased other houses for some of his employees, and collected firearms, with agents locating 14 firearms during a search of his home on April 30, 2019.
The US Attorney’s Office stated that Perez endangered the livelihood of those who follow the laws governing employment, as well as the lives of those who attempt to illegally enter the US seeking jobs like those he provided.
Perez, 48, pleaded guilty on July 7, 2021, to knowingly encouraging and inducing aliens to come to, enter, and reside in the US for commercial advantage and private financial gain, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, and residence in the US was in violation of law.
Sentencing for Perez is scheduled for October 5, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
