Waco, Texas Woman Charged with Trafficking Over 500 Grams of Meth

A Roma woman has been federally charged with trafficking over 480 pounds of methamphetamine and 40 pounds of heroin in Hill County, Texas. Julie Juarez, 48, made her initial appearance in a federal court in Waco after she was arrested for her alleged role in the massive drug trafficking operation.

According to court documents, Juarez was pulled over by a Texas Highway Patrol trooper on March 12 for speeding on Interstate 35. The trooper observed several indicators of deception and inconsistencies in Juarez’s travel itinerary. A canine search of her minivan alerted to the presence of narcotics, leading to the discovery of the massive quantity of methamphetamine and heroin hidden in an aftermarket compartment.

Prosecutors allege that Juarez picked up the narcotics in Mexico and was traveling to deliver them in Dallas when she was arrested. The criminal complaint charges her with possession with intent to deliver at least 500 grams of methamphetamine, a crime that carries a mandatory 10-year sentence in federal prison with a maximum of up to life in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Smith-Burris is prosecuting the case, which is part of the nationwide Operation Take Back America initiative. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the case.

Julie Juarez is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. If convicted, she faces a lengthy sentence and the possibility of life in prison. The case highlights the ongoing struggle to combat drug trafficking and organized crime in the region.

As part of Operation Take Back America, federal authorities are working to dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the safety of communities across the country. The initiative aims to achieve the total elimination of these organizations and protect the public from violent crime.
