Justin Jack Miller, Child Pornography, Indiana 2022

Justin Jack Miller, a 30-year-old man from Michigan, has been sentenced to 204 months in prison for production and attempted production of child pornography, announced Acting United States Attorney Tina L. Nommay on Friday.

The sentencing, which took place in Hammond, Indiana, was the result of a lengthy investigation into Miller’s online activities. According to court documents, between August 2022 and September 2022, Miller misrepresented himself as a 14-year-old male on a social media application and knowingly persuaded and enticed a minor under the age of twelve to engage in sexually explicit conduct.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations with assistance from the Valparaiso Police Department, the Indiana State Police, the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Michigan State Police, and the Escanaba Department of Public Safety.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nadia D. Wardrip. As part of the sentencing, Miller was also ordered to serve life on supervised release after completing his prison term.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood has been a collaborative effort between the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.

Miller’s sentencing is a significant victory for law enforcement and the community, as it highlights the severity of child exploitation crimes and the importance of continued efforts to prevent such crimes from occurring.
