Shreveport Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Trafficking
SHREVEPORT, La. — Justin Lamar Shealey, 40, of Bossier City, Louisiana, was sentenced to 210 months (17 years, 6 months) in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, on drug trafficking charges.
Shealey was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He pleaded guilty to the charges alongside his co-defendant, John Chaz Bernos.
According to the investigation, Shealey had over 600 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle when it was searched by DEA agents. He admitted to purchasing the methamphetamine in the Dallas area and bringing it back to the Shreveport/Bossier City area for distribution.
Shealey’s co-defendant, John Chaz Bernos, 39, was previously sentenced on August 26, 2022, to spend 162 months (13 years, 6 months) in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
Bernos was arrested on February 24, 2021, after a traffic stop by Louisiana State Police troopers. At the time of the stop, Bernos had an active arrest warrant outstanding. Troopers searched the vehicle Bernos was driving and discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, testosterone, and other assorted prescription pills.
This case was investigated by the DEA and Louisiana State Police and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert F. Moody.
Shealey’s sentence brings an end to a year-long investigation into methamphetamine trafficking in the Shreveport/Bossier City area.
