Buffalo Man Convicted of Damaging Government Property

A federal jury in Buffalo, NY has found Justin Vazquez, 30, of Buffalo, NY, guilty of damaging government property. The charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Adler, who is handling the case, on October 20, 2016, during a status conference prior to trial on a firearm’s charge, Vazquez carved a vulgar obscenity into a wooden table in the courtroom of Chief U.S. District Judge Joseph P. Geraci.

The verdict is the result of an investigation by the U.S. Marshal’s Service, under the direction of Marshal Charles Salina.

Justin Vazquez was previously convicted of the firearm charge in May of 2017 and sentenced to 72 months in prison.

The sentencing for the damaging government property charge is scheduled for September 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. before Judge Geraci who presided over the trial.
