Dylan Jamescupp, Distributing Child Pornography, Kansas 2026

⏱ 2 min read

A former Kansas emergency responder, Dylan Jamescupp, 34, of Ottawa, has pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography. Between July 2021 and September 2022, Jamescupp uploaded and traded child sexual abuse material (CSAM) online, using social media platforms and creating new accounts whenever his old ones were suspended. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received multiple cybertips about Jamescupp, which were forwarded to the U.S. Secret Service, leading to his investigation and eventual guilty plea.

During the investigation, federal agents executed a search warrant at Jamescupp’s home in March 2024, seizing electronic devices that contained 2,306 photos and 369 videos of CSAM. Jamescupp admitted to viewing sexual exploitation images involving children as young as eight years old, and his phone GPS information showed that he was sent CSAM images while working at the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Jamescupp is scheduled to be sentenced on November 3, 2026, and will face a sentence determined by a federal district court judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Audrey McCormick prosecuting. The guilty plea is a significant step in holding Jamescupp accountable for his crimes, and highlights the importance of Project Safe Childhood in combating child sexual exploitation.
