Jesse William Laws, a 46-year-old registered sex offender from Leavenworth, Kansas, has been charged with possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). According to court documents, Laws allegedly accessed CSAM in November 2025, violating the terms of his release related to previous convictions for receipt and possession of child pornography in 2006 and 2017. The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Audrey McCormick.
Laws’ previous convictions were in the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri. This new charge is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The Department of Justice has been cracking down on child sexual abuse material and exploitation through Project Safe Childhood, which aims to identify and rescue victims and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet. Laws’ case is just one example of the ongoing efforts to combat this growing epidemic.
The FBI is working to investigate and bring to justice individuals like Laws who exploit and harm children. The case against Laws is a reminder that law enforcement agencies are committed to protecting children and holding offenders accountable for their crimes.
