St. Louis, MO – Chicago area man Jamall Brown has been sentenced to 51 months in prison for his role in a sex trafficking operation that spanned multiple states.
According to court documents, Brown transported two female victims from Chicago to Missouri to Colorado and back for prostitution. The victims were subjected to physical assault and forced into prostitution, with Brown directing them to advertise on Backpage.com.
The victims’ nightmare began in June 2013, when Brown met them in Chicago. After a few days, he transported them to St. Louis, where they engaged in acts of prostitution. The victims were then taken to Denver, and eventually back to St. Louis.
One of the victims eventually told Brown that she wanted to stop prostituting and leave. However, Brown beat her and dropped her off at the emergency room in St. Louis.
Brown, a resident of Chicago, pleaded guilty last September to one felony count of transportation for purposes of prostitution. He appeared in court today for sentencing before United States District Judge Henry Autrey.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the St. Louis Metropolitan and Hazelwood Police Departments.
Assistant United States Attorney Howard Marcus handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Brown’s sentence includes 51 months in prison, followed by supervised release for life.
