Two Kansas men are facing hard time for their roles in a disgusting child sex abuse material case. In Salina, Douglas Harpster, 53, was busted for possessing over 1,500 images of minors – some as young as 12 – engaged in sex acts. Harpster pleaded guilty to a single count of sexual exploitation of a minor and was slapped with a 78-month prison sentence.
In a separate case, Eric Holloway, 53, of Clay Center, was also found guilty of possession of child sex abuse material. Holloway has a prior conviction for a sex crime, which earned him a 135-month sentence.
The FBI investigated both cases and Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara Walton prosecuted the cases. U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Kriegshauser blasted child sex abuse material as a plague on communities, saying those who possess or distribute these images should expect to be prosecuted.
Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sex abuse, brought the cases. In a joint effort, the FBI and local authorities cracked down on the scourge of child sex abuse material.
