A 65-year-old man was kidnapped from his home in Lawrence, Kansas, in May 2023, by Tahreon L. Allen, Jean Willy Petit Frere, and a third suspect, who forced him out at gunpoint. The victim was bound and blindfolded for approximately 10 hours, during which time the kidnappers stole money and two vehicles. The motive behind the kidnapping appears to be financial gain. The kidnappers transported the victim to various locations, eventually meeting up with Mustafa D. Muhammad-Springs in Kansas City, Kansas.
After the meeting, Petit Frere and the third suspect withdrew from the conspiracy, and Muhammad-Springs called Tamara Jackson to find a place to conceal the victim. Jackson orchestrated putting the victim into the basement of her apartment in Kansas City, Missouri. However, as Muhammad-Springs and a co-conspirator attempted to transfer the victim back into one of the stolen vehicles, they were confronted by bystanders, who physically removed the victim from the vehicle.
The kidnappers were eventually caught, and all four defendants pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping. Tahreon L. Allen was sentenced to 262 months in prison, Mustafa D. Muhammad-Springs to 204 months, Jean Willy Petit Frere to 135 months, and Tamara Jackson to 54 months. The sentences reflect the severity of the crime and the harm caused to the victim.
The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to bringing perpetrators of violent crimes to justice. The FBI and other agencies worked together to apprehend the kidnappers and ensure that they faced the consequences of their actions.
