KC Man Sentenced for Gun Thefts from Vehicles

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A brazen scheme to break into vehicles and steal over 100 firearms has met its grim conclusion as Bobby Lamb, a 22-year-old Kansas City resident, was sentenced today in federal court for his role.

Lamb, who has been given 11 years behind bars without parole, pleaded guilty on September 29th to conspiracy to receive, possess, and dispose of stolen firearms. His sentence also includes penalties for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime, and being in possession of a stolen firearm.

Lamb confessed to participating in the theft ring that targeted vehicles in the Westport entertainment district and beyond from June 18th to November 19th, 2021. His arrest on September 16th, 2021, resulted in his seizure of a stolen Glock 9mm handgun. The stolen firearms were later sold on social media platforms, often to individuals prohibited by law from owning guns.

Four co-defendants, all fellow Kansas Citians, have also pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing. They include Drevion Hooker (22), Rayquan Duane Pettaway (25), Treyon Bloodsoe (22), and Roy Rushing (26), with their sentences scheduled for 2024.

This case is a testament to the efforts of Assistant U.S. Attorney Stefan C. Hughes, who is prosecuting it, along with the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
