Scranton, PA – In a shocking turn of events, a Stroudsburg man has been sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment for his role in a heroin and fentanyl trafficking operation in Monroe County.
According to investigators, Keith Parson, 50, distributed street-level quantities of a substance containing heroin and fentanyl from November 2020 until November 2021. The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and its state and local law enforcement partners, resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Parson’s residence on November 10, 2021.
During the search, authorities seized approximately 5 grams of a substance containing heroin and fentanyl, along with packaging materials and other items consistent with both drug use and distribution.
Parson was subsequently charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin and Fentanyl. On November 10, 2022, United States District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani sentenced Parson to 24 months’ imprisonment and a 3-year term of supervised release.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in the region. The case was also brought as part of a district-wide initiative to combat the nationwide epidemic regarding the use and distribution of heroin.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffery St John prosecuted the case, which is part of a coordinated effort among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who commit heroin-related offenses.
The investigation was a result of a violent crime reduction strategy launched by the Department, which aims to foster trust and legitimacy in the community, support community-based organizations, set focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measure the results.
Keith Parson, 50, will serve 24 months in prison and face 3 years of supervised release for his role in the heroin and fentanyl trafficking operation in Monroe County, PA.
