Buffalo Man Convicted of Cocaine Trafficking Lands Eight Year Prison Sentence.
A Tonawanda man, Keith Simmons, 35, was sentenced to eight years in prison for cocaine trafficking. U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara handed down the sentence on the convicted defendant.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael L. McCabe, Simmons managed a drug-trafficking organization in Niagara County and northern Erie County, distributing at least 50 kilograms of cocaine from 2004 to July 2009. This illicit operation made sales at multiple locations, including Papa Joe’s Restaurant on Niagara Falls Boulevard and J.T. Wheatfield’s Bar and Restaurant on Ward Road in Wheatfield.
Simmons was among 21 defendants arrested in July 2009. All have been convicted. The case marks the culmination of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Christopher M. Piehota, the Niagara County Drug Task Force, under the direction of Sheriff James Votour, the Niagara Falls Police Department, under the direction of Chief Bryan DalPorto and the Amherst Police Department, under the direction of Chief John Askey.
The investigation revealed that Simmons’ organization distributed large quantities of cocaine in the Western New York area.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York announced the sentencing, highlighting the efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved in the case.
Simmons’ eight-year prison sentence serves as a reminder of the importance of cracking down on cocaine trafficking in our communities.
