A brutal assault at a bar near Mission, South Dakota, has landed a local man behind bars. Kenneth Littlewolf, 27, was sentenced to 44 months in custody for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
The incident occurred on January 31, 2015, at a bar near Mission. Littlewolf was asked to give a ride to two people, but the situation quickly turned violent. He got into an argument with them and stabbed both individuals. The bar owner and another bartender intervened, trying to break up the fight, but Littlewolf continued to cause harm, kicking and stabbing the victims. He then fled the scene in his vehicle.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy M. Maher prosecuted the case.
The conviction stems from an indictment by a federal grand jury on March 10, 2015. Littlewolf pled guilty on June 24, 2015. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on September 9, 2015. In addition to his prison time, Littlewolf was also ordered to pay a special assessment of $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Littlewolf was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. The investigation and prosecution of this case highlight the importance of working together to address violent crime in our communities.
