Two men have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in the Sioux Falls area.
According to court records, Keophothone Rounoubon, 31, of Worthington, Minnesota, was sentenced to 11 years and three months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
Rounoubon pleaded guilty on January 26, 2024, to conspiring with others, including Tremaine Vang Sihavong, 35, of Brandon, South Dakota, to sell methamphetamine throughout the Sioux Falls area.
The conspiracy involved tens of pounds of methamphetamine and thousands of dollars in drug proceeds, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Rounoubon was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to continue serving his sentence.
Tremaine Vang Sihavong, 35, of Brandon, South Dakota, was sentenced to five years and 10 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty on August 16, 2024, to conspiring with Rounoubon and others to sell methamphetamine in the Sioux Falls area.
The case was investigated by the FBI, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth A. Ebert-Webb prosecuted the case.
The defendants were originally indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2023, and the conspiracy is believed to have started in approximately 2020 and ended in approximately 2023.
