Grimy Times Exclusive: Malik Abuhamid Ibm Wakil Abdunafi, a Baltimore resident, was granted commutation of sentence by President Obama for his role in a massive cocaine trafficking operation.

In a shocking turn of events, Abdunafi’s 240-month prison sentence was commuted to expire on December 28, 2016, and the obligation and payment of a $100,000 forfeiture were remitted. This move has sparked outrage among those who believe that Abdunafi’s crimes warrant harsher punishment.

According to court records, Abdunafi was convicted of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute at least 500 grams of cocaine, at least 50 grams of cocaine base (crack), heroin, and marijuana, as well as distribution of cocaine and cocaine base (crack), distribution of heroin, and possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine, at least five grams of cocaine base (crack), heroin, and marijuana.

The charges stem from a Middle District of Pennsylvania investigation, which began in 2007. Abdunafi’s sentencing took place on August 31, 2007. He was also ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release after his release from prison.
