Kevin MacVicar, Child Sex Abuse Material Possession, Maine 2023

PORTLAND, Maine: A Hampden man pleaded guilty to possessing child sexual abuse materials in U.S. District Court in Bangor, U.S. Attorney Darcie N. McElwee announced.

According to court records, Kevin MacVicar, 31, possessed child pornography on his cell phone and electronic storage devices between February 2015 and February 2021. MacVicar had obtained the images and videos from the internet, including by participating in online forums dedicated to child sexual abuse material. Some of the images depicted children under 12.

MacVicar faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and up to a lifetime of supervised release. He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office. A federal district judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
