Crime: 35-Year-Old Man Sentenced to 14 Years for Child Pornography in Iowa
A 35-year-old man from Eldora, Iowa, has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor and distributing child pornography. Kevin Trittien, age 35, was sentenced on January 16, 2013, to 168 months’ imprisonment for his crimes.
Trittien was arrested and charged with one count of attempted enticement of a minor and one count of distribution of child pornography after an undercover operation in 2012. He was found guilty and sentenced to the maximum allowable by law.
According to the prosecution, Trittien attempted to entice an undercover officer posing as a minor to meet for the purpose of unlawful sex. He also distributed child pornography in 2012.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The investigation was led by the Garner Police Department, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.
Trittien was sentenced to 168 months’ imprisonment, fined $8,000, and must serve an eight-year term of supervised release. He must also comply with all sex offender registration and public notification requirements.
This case is a stark reminder of the dangers of child pornography and the importance of protecting our children from exploitation. The prosecution of Trittien sends a strong message that these crimes will not be tolerated and those who commit them will face severe penalties.
