SEATTLE – A drug deal gone tragically wrong in south King County has led to federal charges for two men. David Ross, 35, and Lenny Brikn Jr., 19, are both facing a litany of federal felonies after the incident that left one dead.
Ross, of Renton, is charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Brikn Jr., from Federal Way, faces five federal counts including conspiracy to commit robbery, attempted robbery, and possession of a stolen firearm.
According to records, Ross and an associate showed up at a Federal Way apartment complex with marijuana to sell to Brikn Jr. and his brother, Deshawn Boykin. Armed and facing armed resistance, Ross fired multiple shots after the brothers tried to rob them.
Brikn Jr. and Boykin fled the scene, but Boykin was struck twice by gunfire and died at St. Francis Medical Center. Ross was initially charged in King County Superior Court, while Brikn Jr. faced unrelated robbery charges there as well. Both are now set for arraignment in U.S. District Court in Seattle.
ROSS faces a mandatory minimum of ten years for discharging a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, on top of any other sentence. Brikn Jr. could serve at least seven years for brandishing a firearm in furtherance of crime and drug trafficking. Both men are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The Federal Way Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated this case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Todd Greenberg.
