HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – A Huntington man has been sentenced to prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, Grimy Times reports.
Kristopher D. Osborne, 48, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for violating federal law. He admitted to possessing a loaded Hi-Point model C9 9mm pistol on February 27, 2025.
According to court documents, Osborne was riding a bicycle in the area of Third Street in Huntington when a law enforcement officer attempted to make contact with him. Osborne tried to flee, wrecking the bicycle in the process. He then admitted to officers that he had a firearm and was a felon.
Osborne’s prior felony convictions include grand larceny, attempted possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, breaking and entering, and conspiracy to commit a felony in Raleigh County Circuit Court on August 30, 2022. This made him a prohibited person from possessing a firearm or ammunition.
United States Attorney Moore Capito commended the investigative work of the Huntington Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence, while Assistant United States Attorney Lesley C. Shamblin prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
