A brutal shooting in the desert claimed the life of an innocent victim, leaving behind a trail of devastation and heartache.
On Wednesday, Kristopher Lionel Goldtooth, 38, of Tuba City, Arizona, was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge David G. Campbell to 262 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
Goldtooth previously pleaded guilty to one count of second degree murder.
The heinous crime took place on April 24, 2019, when Goldtooth intentionally shot the victim in the face with a shotgun, killing him.
The murder occurred on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation, where Goldtooth is an enrolled tribal member.
The FBI and the Navajo Nation Department of Criminal Investigation conducted the investigation in this case.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ryan Powell and Amy Chang, District of Arizona, Phoenix, handled the prosecution.
The case number is CR-19-08108-PCT-DGC, and the release number is 2022-084_Goldtooth.
